Live in Beechwood School District

Yes, you can live in Beechwood School District

Beechwood School District is one of the most coveted School Districts in Kentucky and is ranked highly in the Nation.  What draws parents to Beechwood is Excellence, Community and Tradition.  Beechwood is a K-12 School District housed in several buildings on the Beechwood Campus of a total of approximately 1100 students. The new elementary school has been completed and functions with state of the art classrooms giving students and teachers the tools they need for Success.

Excellence:    Beechwood is excellence. Beechwood ranks as not only one of the top schools in Kentucky and the greater Cincinnati Region, Beechwood is one of the top in the country.  Students excel here because of the schools commitment to education and striving to ensure their graduates go on to college. Beechwood is known as the school that continuously receives honors and awards for excellence in education.

Community:    Beechwood is community.  Beechwood is located in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. The population of Fort Mitchell is just over 7500 persons.  At any one time over 20% of the population is attached to the school as their children are attending. Many of the faculty and staff also live in Fort Mitchell making the population of the community attached to the school at any one time significantly higher.  If you couple this with the numbers of persons living in the community that either have attended Beechwood themselves or their children attended Beechwood the numbers invested into the Beechwood Community are staggering.  This means that almost everyone living in the district has a vested interest in the continuance of excellence which is Beechwood Schools.

Tradition:        Beechwood is Tradition.  In a time when we are losing our traditions, Beechwood is steeped in Tradition.  Whether the tradition is education and achievement of high test scores or winning in sports, Beechwood tradition lives on.  Beechwood builds on its tradition by adding on to its successful curriculum and extra curriculars to keep it in modern step.  If you take a tour of the school you will see and feel the tradition and learn how everyone including parents come together to make this school one of the most successful and unique in the nation.

If you are reading this and looking for a home in Beechwood you probably already know that Beechwood is the correct choice for your child.  We chose Beechwood after moving here from Southern California in 1989.  We know what it is like to live in the large school districts with inadequate supplies and large class sizes.  At Beechwood your child can start Kindergarten and finish High School in the same school and community.  As a Kindergartner, your child will be included in the festivities of attending football games and other sports events as they look up to the successful students that are their role models. They will watch the award winning marching band take the field whether at school events or in competition.  They will know they are an important part of a school community that wants them to succeed.

HOME CHOICES:

Living in Beechwood Schools has many entry points as any other community.  There are apartments within the district, but make sure that you check with the School Board office as many apartments that may be in the city are not in the school district. This is important as well if you are looking at renting or buying a home. You will be surprised the pockets of real estate that are in the Fort Mitchell address, but not the school district.

Be wary if your Real Estate agent advocates  your buying in a surrounding community and telling you that you can pay tuition for your child to attend Beechwood.  While it is possible to live outside the district and pay tuition, this is not guaranteed.  If you choose to do this you are living dangerously.  To attend without living in the district requires an application process that include their being availability.  If your child is allowed to attend this year does not mean that they will be allowed the next year.  Obviously, students within the school district are given preference.  The first best choice is to live in the district.  The money you save on tuition can be invested in your home.

Buying a home in Fort Mitchell may be expensive.  There are many homes over $450,000.00 with the addition of the homes built in the Northern portion of Fort Mitchell.  There are very few homes under $200,000.00 with the homes in the $200,000.00 - 250,000.00 being much smaller than their counterparts in many other portions of Northern Kentucky.

Our home is priced to reflect the market in Fort Mitchell. At $310,000.00 you have room to make the improvements that you would like and still not be priced out of the market value of this home compared to other homes in the city. Keep in mind that if you have a very young child or a kindergarten student that you will be in this home probably 20 years or longer. You are going to want a home that is large enough to grow a family and equity.

This home has a large yard on a corner lot.  It is large enough for you to do just about anything that you want to do with the yard and we have an over sized concrete patio in the back.  The house has 5 bedrooms. We used it as 4 bedrooms with a bonus room over the garage. On the second floor there is a master bath with jacuzzi tub and a second full bathroom.

On the main floor is an entry, dining room, living room (or can be office), family room and very large eat in kitchen. The laundry is off the kitchen.  The kitchen is the greatest part of the house as it has a center island and three bowl sink. There is half bath off the entry and fireplace that can be wood or gas. Right now we are using as gas.

The basement has a roughed in half bath, but is really unfinished with an outside entrance.

We are excited that you are thinking of sending your children to Beechwood.  We raised our three daughters in this house and Beechwood is certainly an important part of their success.  Richelle has an associates in Accounting and is almost finished with a dual degree in Accounting and Business.  Sheree has a degree in marketing and almost finished with her MBA. Laurie has an undergrad in biology, Phd in neurobiology and graduates Medical School in June.  We hope you will be interested in raising your family in our home as we move on to the next chapter in our lives.  We are expecting the first grandchild in January (Sheree) and getting ready for retirement. Just send an email to us using the email address in the blog and we will get back to you.
